Did you know that most plastic and other chemicals around us are currently made from fossil feedstocks – oil, gas, and coal?
In other words, to reduce its GHG emissions, the chemical industry needs to not only eliminate emissions from energy and heat sources. As the world decarbonizes and phases out these fossil fuels, the chemical industry will need to find alternative feedstocks for its processes. Some sources of carbon as a component of chemical building blocks are already known, and research in this area is ongoing.
Join our webinar with Professor Graham Hutchings, who chaired the working group that enabled a Royal Society policy briefing titled “Defossilising the Chemical Industry” that has been recently published while being directly involved in some exciting and important research. After listening to the discussion, you will be better equipped with the knowledge to start conversations and ask questions to chemical companies you engage with.
